Thinking About My Father

I was watching tv the other day, and I came across a commercial with former NASCAR driver Brian Vickers. As he was driving a 1966 427 Corvett he was thinking back to when his father and he restored the car. He said that during the work they would talk. He found out a great deal about his father he didn't know. I thought about that, and started remembering when the old man and I did the same thing; work on cars and talk. By dying young he paid a terrible price for taking care of the next 5 or 6 generations of his family. With fame comes money, and with money comes heartache, and pain. Elvis had his share of both. Elvis brought all that on by himself. But we all do that. We just do it differently. Dying young was the price to be paid for everyone else having a better life. We all do the same thing, whether it be a carpenter, lineman, truck driver, mason or whatever we do to make a living. We work to better our lives, and the lives of our families. Sometimes the cost is ...
