Biden Post Hoc

Are you not fit to run a marathon, but are fit enough to run 30 yards. Does that mean you are not fit to run at all? Your logic is post hoc ergo propter hoc; after this, therefore because of this. It is a logical fallacy. This is fallacious reasoning because, temporal succession does not establish a causal connection. There is no causality between being fit to run, and being fit to remain, or exist.

X'ers

We grew up too fast, and old even faster We were feral children. Heroes don't always wear capes, or badges, but they always wear the armor of God.

A Walk

As I step outside for my evening walk. The warmth wanes from the heat of the day, and a stiff southerly wind blows across my path. I bask in the glow of the sundown, and the end of another scorching day. With the coming of another muggy night, my mind wanders back to the hope of a brand new day, called tomorrow.

The Lone Cone of the Catastrophe

Image
With the lone cone of the catastrophe, staying at its post, bravely doing what it is supposed to do, despite its charges being long gone and in another place, and for all time, resting in peace. The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore was hit by the container ship  Dali  at approximately  1:28 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 . The vessel lost power and struck a key support pier, causing the entire bridge structure to collapse into the Patapsco River within seconds.

Activist Supreme Court

Image
Another shoutout to my FB Friends and Foes Far and Wide. Specifically to the MAGA crowd, and Trump supporters. With this immunity issue before the SCOTUS, the self-described originalist SCOTUS, led by Justice Thomas seems to have carved out a solution to the problem based on nothing in the U.S. Constitution, no case law, precedent, or anything other than their opinion, and how they feel. The next time all you complain about activist judges making law out of whole cloth, and shoving it down our throats like they did with Roe, just remember this and sit down and don't even speak up because the SCOTUS is one of the very things you all purport to despise; an activist judiciary. Judges you support and appoint, are no better than the ones the Democrats appoint, or support. Just sayin

SCOTUS and Free Speech 2024

Image
ATTENTION!!! All FB friends and foes far and wide, The Supreme Court of the United States has made a ruling that affects you and me. I know crazy huh! Anyhoo, the SCOTUS has ruled that local government officials can block the public from their social media pages and NOT be in violation of the 1 st Amendment. In the unanimous opinion in Lidke v. Freed (2023), Justice Amy Coney Barrett set guidelines for when public officials' accounts could be viewed as state action. Barrett said public officials’ social media accounts can only be considered part of their government duties if the official has the authority to speak on the state’s behalf and claims to use that authority when posting on social media.  The court found that while public officials’ actions might look official, it is not the state acting unless there is a direct connection to that power or authority. Determining whether or not the official is exercising state power is nuanced, but Barrett said this authority h...

Biden v. Trump 2024

I am not necessarily putting them on the same level in character. As much as I am not a Biden fan, he is not as bad as Trump. One can't be in politics for 48 years and not be political, and not to have done something shady. That is the nature of politics. Biden doesn't walk on water, and he is not as pristine as he comes off. Just like Trump is not the courageous fighter he purports to be, or comes off as. Both are political animals, and as such are guided by appearance. Both are old men who are playing a young mans game in a young man's arena. Remember, politics is all about perception, and in politics, perception is reality, not truth. That is what I meant to articulate. That while they both are different, they both are the same.
