Good Deeds Dolly

Dolly is going to give the people displaced by the fires in Tennessee $1000 per month to help them get back on their feet. Some chastise her for that. So here is my take. Tim MCGraw and Faith Hill each put up $1 million for Katrina, and Kevin Durant gave the Red Cross the same to help people displaced and homeless after tornadoes in Oklahoma City. Why did these people do this? Because that is where they live, or are from. That is called them helping themselves. Whether she has more money or not is not the question. The fact that she is offering to help in a tangible way. They will rebuild, and I don't doubt she will be part of that also. But in the meantime people need a place to live, now that winter is here. Place to live and food to eat is priority #1 right now for these families, and $1000 will go to those ends. She has given back to her community, and will continue to do so. So however much she has or doesn't have, no matter how much work she has had, or how "tacky" she is, fact remains is that she is there helping "her people." She uses that reference because to her and those people when you say "my people," you are saying they are my family. And finally; instead of protesting, burning buildings, and blocking freeways how about giving something tangible instead of something symbolic. Symbolism is nice, but you can't eat it. or live in it.
