Coddled Athletes

 Just a small thought on college football players. It has been said that the Heisman winner, was making 6 figures before the start of this season. This is because as we all know, now college athletes must be compensated for their time, above the free education they get. So now some football players are opting out of bowl games, because they don't want to get injured, the idea being, (correctly or incorrectly) that they will go to the NFL.

That is hogwash. the football players are making 6 figures, because of commercial endorsements. So now, hey can pay for their own insurance, room and board, and tuition. The college needs to quit subsidizing these players. Also, if you commit to play on a team, and you make 6 figures because of that team, you are an employee, and therefore are contracted to play, whether it benefits you or not. As the player has already received the benefit. It is a vicious cycle, in that, no bowl game, no publicity, no publicity, no shoe, or commercial deals, and no 6 figures.
The college athletes in general, and football players in particular have been coddled too long. It is time they are made to pay adult bills, to make adult money. Time to make them responsible adults with money, instead of the idiots that are produced. Play time is over. They have been operating on someone else's dime for years, time for them to operate on their dime, and see how much they party, and act stupid then. The chickens are at the coop door to roost.

 I had been prepping all my life for the death of my parents. When one day the hospital called and said come see your father if you want to see him alive again. So I did. I got to see him. I told him that I was ok now, and would be ok later. We had made peace about 10 years before that.   You can't help anyone move forward if they can't get out of their own way. Those Appalachian states get more money from the government than they pay in taxes. Why not use that money to retrain people to do a job with more of a 20-year life expectancy. Maybe then there won't be so many "people dying i the street." He needs to look at himself, and the poor, and put some of the blame on them, before he goes blaming others. Look in the mirror, then out the window.  Too bad for the firefighters. Thayer Immigration Initiative

I proposed this about a decade ago. No one wanted to listen. This is my solution for the immigration problem. Thayer Immigration Initiative 1.   Declare six month immigration, amnesty, grace period or whatever you want to call it. 2.   Notify all illegal aliens that they must register within the time period in order to gain citizenship. 3.   Divide the country into sections along the lines of the United States District Courts. For the purpose of all legal proceedings concerning immigration. 4.   Aliens must prove that they have held a job are crime free, and have at least an 5 th grade understanding of the reading, writing, and speaking of English. 5.   Once they are registered, then confiscate their next three years Federal income tax as a fine for entering illegally.
