When it comes to family, the gray area g grows proportionately with the size of the family responsibilities. You do what you have to do to take care of your family and live with it the rest of your life. With family the end does justify means.
This week begins the changing landscape at 16th St and 4th Ave here in Yuma Arizona. The building formerly a doctor's office and another building formerly an auto parts store and a deli are now gone, razed and hauled to the recycling mill of our memory. The round building that once housed a bank and gold pawn shop are next along with the an old grocery store and movie theater next on the block sometime later in the year. With the Mortuary being the last vestige of Yuma the way it was. The retail shopping mall Southgate, has already suffered the same fate as the others. All of these buildings hold memories for those of us old enough to remember and those of us young enough to wonder. Christmas time was the best time of year at the mall. As you all know, I am, at times a hard, harsh, unforgiving, individual. In other words a hard case. Having been this way for some 48 of my 56 years, I have learned a thing or two about being that way. I learned if I were going to fight, no matter if the cause was right or wrong, then I had to accept the consequences whatever they were, no exceptions. To not whine about the consequences, because no one cares, and I brought it on myself. I learned that I would have to pay a cost in interpersonal relationships, meaning that some would not like, or tolerate my attitude. I did not care, and I was the way I had to be. I have always been responsible for the consequences of my words and actions, without exception. The fault was, is and always be mine. I hold people, especially politicians, to that same standard.
